MY STORY

I’m Leanne.

At the heart of everything I do is one simple intention: creating spaces where people feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves.

SOMA School accredited somatic coach

I began as a hairdresser because I loved caring for people. I went on to open BRHAIVE, a salon with wellness woven into it, where I hoped people would feel welcomed and more themselves. Building the salon and its team taught me so much. It also meant years of doing, leading and trying to keep everything going. I became good at pushing through, even when I needed to slow down.

Becoming a mum brought a new perspective. When a chronic skin condition and ongoing health issues meant I had to stop hairdressing, I stepped away from my business completely for six months. I returned to build a way for the salon to thrive without needing me there every day. That space helped me see how burnt out I had become. I had spent so long in survival that rest felt unfamiliar.

I grew up with a lot of love, and with experiences that sometimes left me feeling unsure of myself. For a while I thought success meant proving I could carry everything. Some difficult experiences in business made me question my worth and who I was, too. With time and support I began to loosen that pressure and remember what had always mattered to me: people, care and connection.

My own exploration of wellbeing began almost a decade ago, starting with CBT for OCD as a teenager. I was later introduced to Reiki and spiritual healing, and eight years on I trained in Reiki Levels 1 and 2. Somatic work, nervous system education and inner child work have helped me understand my body and find a gentler way of being with myself. Regulation, for me, isn't about being calm every minute. It is about making room for the whole of life.

I still love music, dancing, going out and the messy, joyful parts of being human. I don't want anyone to feel they must become a perfect version of themselves to belong here. This work has helped me listen more openly, be more present as a mum, wife, friend and business owner, and keep learning without shame.

Ancient wisdom around gathering, sharing stories and being alongside one another really lands with me. I feel we can become so careful about what we say or show, worried about being judged, that parts of us stay unexpressed. It can leave us feeling alone even when we're surrounded by people. I want my son to grow up knowing he can express who he is, without fear of being too much or getting it wrong. HELD grew from that hope: a space to be seen, to listen, to move or rest, and to feel connected again, in your own way.

I've always loved bringing people together and supporting other women. Now I get to do that through circles, retreats and the HELD community. BRHAIVE was where this journey began, even before I knew where it would lead. The BRHAIVE Method™ was born from my own self discovery and return to myself; its name honours the place that started it all. HELD is an invitation to find your own way back, with others beside you.

THE HEART OF THIS WORK

HELD: space for your nervous system and your whole self.

We can spend so much of life pushing through, caring for everyone else and losing sight of ourselves. HELD makes room to slow down, notice what is happening in your body, explore your identity and feel part of a community. You can come as you are, without having to fix yourself first.

THE MEANING IN THE MARK

A symbol of returning to yourself, together.

BRHAIVE was the beginning of this work: a place to soften, turn inward and make space for who you are beneath all the doing. I think of it as a temple for the body and the person within it.

The spiral is the journey into the body. The holding hands are HELD: connection, community and support. The rising dots carry that awareness into the way we live and grow. The two sides hold structure and softness, doing and being, with a line between them for the inner work of finding balance.

It reminds me that we can come back to ourselves and still be held by each other.

WHAT IS SOMATIC WORK?

What somatic work can feel like.

Somatic simply means working with the body. Stress, emotion and change can show up in our breath, posture, energy and sense of safety. In a session, I invite you to notice those signals and explore them gently, alongside the thoughts and stories that matter to you.

That might look like feeling your feet on the floor, noticing your breath, moving, resting, journalling or speaking about what comes up. Gentle, supportive somatic touch is an important part of how I work. It can help you feel the support beneath you, notice what is happening in your body and settle at your own pace. I explain the touch I offer and check that it feels right for you. We work at your pace. There is no right way to respond and you can always choose what feels supportive.

In my 1:1 work, we connect this awareness with identity: the roles you carry, the patterns you have learned and the person you are becoming. In circles and retreats, we also make space to be witnessed and connect with others.

CYCLICAL AWARENESS

Your cycle, your body, your changing needs.

Part of reconnecting with yourself is noticing your changing needs. Within Circle and 1:1 coaching, we can explore the rhythms of your body, your menstrual cycle, your life stage and the seasons around you.

This might mean noticing when you want connection, when you need quiet, or where your boundaries need more care. There is no perfect way to be cyclical. We start with curiosity about your own experience.

HOLDING WOMEN THROUGH CHANGE

Support for women through cycles and motherhood.

Motherhood can change your body, your time and your sense of who you are. After pregnancy and my C-section, I spent a long time feeling disconnected from my stomach and scar. Reconnecting was about more than accepting how I looked. I began to feel sensation again, listen to what my body needed and meet myself with more care.

That experience is part of why I want to hold space for women through pregnancy, postpartum and the many other changes we move through. If you’re a busy mum who has spent years putting yourself last, you deserve time to notice how you feel too.

In 1:1 coaching and circles, we can explore body awareness, identity, rest, boundaries and your own rhythms. There is room for the tenderness and complexity of your experience, without pressure to return to an old version of yourself.

I’m developing workshops for women and mums around menstrual cycles, changing energy and needs, pregnancy and postpartum reconnection, and life stages such as perimenopause. We’ll bring together accessible education, gentle somatic practices and conversation so you can learn about your body in a supportive space.

THE ROOTS OF HELD

Gathering is part of being human.

Long before we had language for nervous system support, people across many cultures gathered to share stories, sing, move, mark seasons and care for one another. Those traditions differ from community to community; I don't claim one single ancient practice as my own. What stays with me is the simple wisdom of making time to be together, to listen and to feel that we belong.

Gathering in a circle

Coming together gives us room to speak, listen or simply be present. HELD Circle brings this human need into a gentle, welcoming space today.

Movement and rhythm

Shared music, breath and movement have long helped people express themselves and connect. HELD Release makes room for that expression, alongside rest and supportive touch.

Honouring change

Seasons, cycles and life transitions have always shaped how communities care for one another. In my work, we make space for your own rhythms, especially through motherhood and changing life stages.

This is the inspiration behind HELD: a modern space for connection to your body, to yourself and to each other.

THE JOURNAL

A little reconnection.

Simple reflections to help you get to know the work, and yourself, a little more.

Why we gather: the quiet power of a circle

What happens when we make room to listen, share and simply be together?

Read article ↗

So much of everyday life asks us to keep going. To care for others, stay on top of things and have an answer when someone asks how we are. A circle offers a moment to pause and answer that question honestly, even if the answer is “I’m not really sure.”

What is a circle?

A circle is a facilitated gathering where people come together to reflect, listen and connect. At HELD, that might include a gentle arrival, a body awareness practice, a journalling prompt and time to share. There is always room to listen without speaking.

Gathering and sharing stories have long been part of human life. The circle gives us a simple way to make room for that connection today, without needing a special reason or having everything worked out first.

Being heard without being fixed

Sometimes what we need is time to put words to our experience and have someone listen. In a circle, we practise giving each other that space. We don’t need to offer advice, compare experiences or find the perfect response.

Hearing someone else name a feeling we recognise can help us feel less alone. We may begin to soften the pressure to be coping all the time, and find more compassion for ourselves and each other.

Bringing your body into the conversation

Reflection can include noticing what is happening in your body. You might become aware of your shoulders, the support of your chair or your need to change position. These small moments of attention are part of somatic awareness. Any invitation can be adapted or left out.

Making room for your changing needs

Within HELD Circle, cyclical and seasonal themes offer another way to reflect. What has your energy been like? Where have you needed more rest or connection? What are you ready to make space for? We approach these questions with curiosity, allowing each person’s experience to be different.

You don’t need to know what to say

Coming alone, feeling nervous or choosing to stay quiet are all welcome. There is no performance and no requirement to share a personal story. You can begin by simply being there.

For me, this is at the heart of HELD: making time for human connection, and creating a space where you can meet yourself with a little more care.

CYCLICAL LIVING · 2 MIN READ

Getting curious about your own rhythm

A gentler way to notice your energy, emotions and needs.

Read article ↗

Cyclical awareness begins with paying attention to your experience. Rather than expecting yourself to have the same energy every day, it offers space to ask what feels different and what you might need.

If you menstruate, you might choose to note where you are in your cycle alongside your energy, emotions and desire for rest or connection. You may notice patterns over time, or find that your experience varies. Your observations matter more than fitting into a description of a particular phase.

If your cycle is irregular, absent or changing, you can still explore your rhythms through everyday reflection, your life stage and the seasons. The invitation is to build a relationship with yourself as you are.

A simple place to begin

Try a brief check in: “What am I noticing in my body today? How is my energy? What would feel supportive?” You could write a few words, record a voice note or simply take a moment to listen.

In Circle and 1:1 coaching, we can explore these observations together and consider how they might inform your boundaries, rest and everyday choices.

COLLABORATE WITH HELD

Bring your work into a HELD space.

I’m open to meeting facilitators whose work could sit alongside HELD: co facilitating a group session, joining other practitioners for an experience, or helping create a larger event with a somatic focus.

I’m especially interested in somatic breathwork, supportive touch, somatic massage, movement, ecstatic dance and meditative somatic practice. I’m focusing on HELD experiences and my own work at the moment, so I’m looking for ideas that fit within those spaces.

Let’s get to know each other first.

DM me a little about:

  • Who you are, where you’re based and what you do
  • Your approach and experience facilitating groups
  • What you’d bring to a HELD session or larger event
  • How you imagine us working together

If it feels like a fit, I’d love to welcome you to a HELD experience. We can then arrange a reciprocal exchange so we each get to know the other’s work before discussing a collaboration.
